White House Internship

The White House Internship Program's mission is to make the "People's House" accessible to future leaders from around the nation and cultivate and prepare those devoted to public service for future leadership opportunities.

Am I eligible to apply for a White House Internship?
Applicants must be U.S. citizens, 18 years of age on or before the first day of the internship, and meet at least one of the following criteria:
  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program at a college, community college, or university (two-to-four year institution)
  • Graduated from an undergraduate or graduate program at a college, community college, or university (two-to-four year institution) no more than two years before the first day of the internship
  • A veteran of the United States Armed Forces who possesses a high school diploma or its equivalent and has served on active duty, for any length of time, in the two years preceding the first day of the internship

Am I available for the White House Internship Program?

All White House Interns are expected to intern full-time for the entire term of the program.
  • The White House Internship Program is an unpaid program
  • Interns will be expected to work from approximately 9:00 AM-6:00 PM, Monday-Friday
  • Hours may vary by office
  • Please see Internship Timeline and FAQs for questions regarding the definition of "full-time"

Do I have all my application materials?

A completed packet includes:
  • Two Essays: Each answer should be between 300-500 words in length
  • Current Resume: Your resume should not exceed one page
  • Two Letters of Recommendation

The Science, Mathematics And Research for Transformation (SMART) Scholarship for Service Program is an opportunity for students pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) disciplines to receive a full scholarship and be gainfully employed upon degree completion. Students pursuing degrees related to the following are encouraged to apply:
• Mechanical Engineering

• Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering

• Nuclear Engineering

• Oceanography

• Operations Research

• Physics
• Electrical Engineering

• Geosciences

All applicants are required to submit applications online by 5:00 P.M EST, December 16, 2013. All supporting materials must be received byDecember 16, 2013. Monitor the application's status to ensure ASEE receives the reference forms, transcripts, and any required test scores. As stated above, applicants must click the "Submit Application" button before 5:00 P.M ESTDecember 16, 2013 in order to submit the application. There is no logout button. Simply exit the application and your saved work will be retained. Please be sure to save your work before exiting, otherwise your information will be lost.
All responses can be changed prior to submission. This allows applicants to save an application-in-progress and return to the application to correct errors and omissions.

Dear Senior,

Thus far you have not made any payments towards any of the 3 packages and the final payment date is November 22nd.  Please review the information below regarding the packages. This information can also be found on your class website, friendlypatriots2014.blogspot.com or on your class bulletin boards which are located outside of Mr. Lee’s office and outside of Mrs. Reynolds’ classroom.

Volunteer Opportunity


The Office of Safe and Drug Free Schools is in need of 15-20 students to volunteer on Saturday, November 23 for the College and Career Readiness Forum at Dr. Henry Wise Jr. HS.  This will be a great opportunity to receive student service hours/credits. 
 
Students would need to be at Wise from 7:30AM to 1PM.  The dress is casual and the duties would include:
 
  • Set up
  • Runners
  • Registration
  • Clean-up
